9th MS Cavalryman's Grave in Savannah, GA

Recently while I was at Laurel Grove North Cemetery near downtown Savannah, GA I came across the grave marker of Lt. Seymour Richards of Company A, Miller's Regiment, MS Cavalry. His date of death was Dec 19, 1864. I believe he was there helping to defend Savannah from Sherman and his troops at the close of the "March to the Sea." Does anyone know for sure if the 9th MS Cavalry was in the Savannah area in Dec of 1864? If anyone is interested, I took a picture of this marker and will be glad to share it with them.
