Thanks for sharing this info with me George. I was just curious about this when I saw his marker in that Savannah cemetery. I guess I kind of forgot about how Wheeler and his cavlary were fighting against Sherman while he was marching towards Savannah and also in and around Savannah. I knew for sure that Wheeler joined forces with Wade Hampton and his men to try to help stop or at least slow down Sherman during the Carolinas Campaign after Hampton had been sent south by Robert E. Lee. You probably already know that the Jeff Davis Legion of MS was in P. M. B. Young's Brigade. One of my ancestors, Thomas Jordan Dunnahoo of Cobb's Legion Cavalry Battalion was in the same brigade as the Jeff Davis Legion for most of the war.
