Jim; Happy to help. Adapted from my forthcoming book on Confederate army colonels:

Statham, Walter Scott. Born July 18, 1832, Wilkes Co., GA, son of Dr. Augustin D. and Lucy (Tait) Statham. Raised in Grenada, MS. Prewar lawyer there. Md. Ann V. Elliott (1839-68), neice of CSN Lt. Isaac N. Brown. Capt. Co. G, 15th MS, April 19, 1861. Col., June 6, 1861. Wounded in the shoulder by an accidental gunshot in Sept., 1861, and never entirely healthy thereafter. Led Zollicoffer's brigade at Shiloh. Led a brigade in Breckinridge's Division in 1862. Died at Vicksburg July 30, 1862, of fever. Buried Odd Fellows Cemetery, Grenada. "All the men loved Colonel Statham". First name given as "Winfield" by several sources. Another source says he attd. Dartmouth U., but he is not listed in the Dartmouth catalogs.
