We all know that following the WBTS Confederate Veterans and organizations like the UDC raised funds to erect memorials to our Men in Gray. As Historian and newsletter editor for the Mary Ann Randolph Custis Lee Chapter #2583, Purvis, Mississippi, I strive to enlighten members of our own Mississippi history. This year I am featuring "History in Stone" in which I tell about Confederate Memorials on court house lawns or town squares. If you know the history of your local monument/memorial (i.e., who erected it, when, who designed it, sculptor, date of dedication, cost, and wording on the monument)would be willing to share this information and a picture for our newsletter? You may respond to email@example.com. I will happily give you credit in our newsletter and send you a copy.
