Al, Your book The Gettysburg Campaign was very helpful to me 15 years ago when I started researching the "University Greys" Company A of the 11th Mississippi. The softcover edition has Dale Gallons excellent painting of the fighting around the Bryan barn during Pickett's Charge. The Confederate regiments portrayed in that painting would include the 11th and 2cd Mississippi. They were brigaded together through the whole war. I carried your book with that cover to the first 2 meetings of the 11th Mississippi Memorial Committee to show to the other members. Some 7 years ago we placed a statue on Seminary Ridge to mark the starting point of the 11th Ms. and, just to the right of the Bryan barn, we placed a forward marker explaining and showing where the 11th advanced to in Picketts Charge.

So, after your help of us, let me look around in my files and books, for a day or two, to see if I can tell you anything about the 2cds uniforms.

Off the top of my head, most of the early formed Mississippi companies that became the early regiments, each had different uniforms. Some of these companies pre dated the war so they had militia type uniforms being very gaudy. I will also dig into the photos I have. I have always xeroxed 2cd Ms. information when I found it because they were brigaded with the 11th. I'll be back here in a day or two. Thanks for your help all those years ago. Starke Miller
