The Compiled Military Service Records for these men probably would answer a good deal of your questions. The POW ledgers at Ancestry.com can be helpful, but there's usually more to their story.
I found it interesting that Drury M. Lovins was captured three times according to these POW ledgers, Fort Donelson, TN, Port Hudson, LA, and Pontotoc County, MS.
Another item of interest, Jackson V. B. Loving/Lovins was not with Drury and the 1st. Miss. Regiment when they were captured at Fort Donelson. He is noted as one of the members of the 1st. Miss. Regiment who were taken up on the rolls of Company H, 7th. Regiment Miss. Infantry during the March - April 1862 time period.
You can find more info on the 7th. at this web site.
