This form is very simular to the arms and equipment inventory forms I had to fill out in my days in the service and send back to the DOD Ordinance Depot for arms and equipment. Its purpose was for the Chief Ordinance Officer for a military district to track government issued arms and equipment. It was common for the Chief Ordinance Officer to take arms and equipment from a combat unit, that was out of action, for necessary or scheduled depot repair and maintenance or reissue to an different unit going into action or expecting action. Privately owned weapons should not be is this report. The government would issue ammunition for use in private weapons but they should not track non-government owned weapons or their available inventories would be incorrect.
