NC Williamson Brothers

John Newton WILLIAMSON, 15 and his brother James Dorsey WILLIAMSON left NC on the train for MS because their mother wouldn't let them enlist. They traveled to MS and did enlist, we are not sure what company or regiment they served. We do know that John suffered a Union ball in his ankle which remained there as long as he lived. It is said he was too young to fight and was the company drummer boy. John married twice in Attala Co and is buried in Yockanookanny Cemetery there. His brother James D Williamson married a woman known only as "Patience L ?" in census and had three known children. He is buried in Leake Co. We would love to know where these boys served and whether they had pension applications either they themselves or their wives or family. They lived the rest of their lives in and around the Attala, Leake, Madison County areas. John had two wives and a large number of children. Thank you in advance for your kindness. Zelia Cline
