The 1860 census lists this man as a resident of Kosciusko MS -- none other in the state by this name. His occupation is listed as 'overseer' I would have to assume there was only one Philip M. Burt.

For what it's worth, Richard F. Burt in the same household is listed as a 'Loafer."
