Port Gibson Battlefield: In case anyone is interested the Widows Creek Bridge on Old Rodney Road, west of the Shaifer House is closed to traffic. We were in the area on March 15 and noticed that the bridge floor was completely removed. Not sure if the bridge is being repaired or replaced. You might make note of this in case you are planning to visit the battlefield around the Shaifer House. We always used the bridge after visiting the house and heading to the town of Rodney. The Shaifer House looks real nice after the new paint job. The first shot marker has been moved to a new location near the driveway entrance. The grounds around the house have been cleaned up pretty well.
