This man was not captured, although the heading on the card reads "prisoners of war" or something like that. It's just the standard heading on all paroles and surrender records. General Taylor agreed to surrender all Confederate soldiers under his command on May 4, 1865, the paroles taking place later with only a few Federal officers present to observe.
