The exchange took place in October of 1862. If you have Ogletree's military service file, that information appears in small print at the bottom of a prisoner-of-war card. Since there isn't a record showing this man in another company from Georgia, it's reasonable to assume that he moved to Mississippi before enlisting. During the years before the war, people moved frequently, usually to states in the west and south. I have found two Alabama captains living in Northern states (Pennsylvania and New York) at the time of the 1860 census. Both moved to Alabama before hostilities began.
