Re: Civil War Hospital in Meridian MS in 1865

there is a cemetery oustide of Shubuta across the River Bridge (Hanging Bridge). It is called the Heard Cemetery. the Methodist preacher buried some CSA soldiers at his family plot there. No names.

Heard Cemetery
On the Eastern Shore of the Chickasawhay River
North of Shubuta, Clarke County, Mississippi

The Heard Cemetery rest on a high hill overlooking the Chickasawhay River. A fence & gate once proudly surrounded these graves but has fallen to time & trees. Much work is needed to keep this old cemetery up. The cemetery is hard to find as no road leads directly to the cemetery, but a logging road goes nearby, and then you walk up the high hill to the site. There is at least 7 (seven) sunken spots that could be grave sites outside the fenced in area. This is considered(rumored) to be CSA soldiers burial spots.
