Kenny,
I agree that Cozzens book is an excellent study and I frequently recommend it. With that said I must also point out the book is chock full of mistakes. I have not studied the Iuka portion of the book in great detail but the portions dealing with Corinth and Davis Bridge I have studied under a microscope and found it has numerous errors. (My working copy has notes in almost every margin). I find the best way to study a battle is to walk the field, read the accounts, and walk the field again. And again. Using this method you will see the author spent very little time with boots in the dirt. I hear rumors of another book length study of Iuka/Corinth is in the works, I hope it will be of such quality to become my first recommendation for students of the campaign.
