A report by Captain H. G. D. Brown to Lieutenant John G. Devereux, AAAG at Camp Moore, La., on April 30, 1862, states that the battery was at Covington, LA, under 1st Lieutenant Calvit Roberts and consisted of three brass smoothbore six-pounders, two iron rifled six-pounders, and one iron 6-pounder howitzer. The document is in the Devereux Papers, Southern Historical Collection, Manuscripts Department, Wilson Library, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Does anyone know where the battery obtained these cannons or anything about where and when they were cast?
