His service record file should contain the resignation documents you note. Additionally, bimonthly muster records from the time of his
entry into service should note where he enrolled, possibly his age, location, and date of appointments.

Also, most officer records contain requisition documents for his company such as Forage, fuel, clothing, etc. These contain dates and
location. There's really no telling what other documents might exist therein.

The original documents reside at the National Archives in Washington, DC. However, all documents related to him should have been
incorporated in his file.
