Re: USS Petrel Goes Down for the Count Near Yazoo

You're welcome, George. It was a very nice effort on Ken's part, and I was grateful to be included. Ken was so kind a couple of years ago to send me a very good copy of a CDV of Gen. James deBerty Trudeau of Louisiana, who had been misidentified as Col. Griffith by Ken's family over the years. At some point, Ken's Junction, TX line had acquired the CDV--probably from Col Griffith himself who may have encountered Trudeau when the latter was off-plantation during his parole period--and they assumed it was Griffith. That mistake was verified a few years ago by the current owner of Hermitage Plantation in Darrow, LA who provided a matching CDV copy of Trudeau. I think the photo also was wrongly identified as Griffith in the original Bearss article on the Petrel that appeared a few years ago. I was happy to back up Ken in setting the record straight with the official NPS version, which was not easily accepted or fixed if I remember correctly.
