Thanks for your coverage of the area. My father was raised in Tupelo, so I have an interest in the area, and your account helps clear up some things. However, since Bill's ancestor died there in 1862, I imagine it was from wounds received at Shiloh, or of disease contracted while the army was encamped in the area. My great grandfather's twin brother (they were both in the 26/50th Alabama) died there in 1862 as well.
