Natchez, Mississippi Tennessee Burials

Two months ago, while in Vicksburg, Allen Terrell handed me a list of Tennessee soldiers buried in the former City Cemetery in Natchez, Mississippi.

George Martin

---------------

Pvt. William Jordan, Co. B, 3rd Tennessee Cavalry. His one card in the CSRs shows the following:

Pvt. William Jordon, age 23, enlisted in Captain W. C. Bacot's Company, Alabama Volunteers*, September 14, 1861 at Montgomery, Alabama

*This company appears to have been assigned to the 3d (Forrest's) Regiment Tennessee Cavalry as (1st) Company B, when that regiment was organized in October, 1861. It subsequently served in one of the two battalions into which that regiment was separated in April, 1862, and it was transferred to the 4th (Russell's) Regiment Alabama Cavalry (date not known) when the latter was organization November, 1862, becoming Company A, of that organization.
