I found something in the 1850 Choctaw County, MS census which might help.

Samuel Parker, age 50, b. NC
Thomas Parker, age 23, b. AL
Ruphus Parker, age 19, b. TN
Samuel Parker, age 18, b. TN
William Parker, age 11, b. MS
John Parker, age 11, b. MS

So it looks like William and John were twins, and if this is so, then that is why they have identical middle names. Note there is no wife and mother listed. Is it possible she died in childbirth with the twins?

If this is the family you are looking for, then William and John would be 22 years old when the War began.

I hope this helps in your research.
