Now I know for sure it was "another William"...I was so stunned to see "our William's" name that I forgot he was b.in 1794...now I know why I had never heard anything before about his being in the MS cavalry! William was actually my gggm's bachelor uncle and guardian, not her father. Both of her parents died when she was a girl in Augusta ME, so she went to live with William in MS, along with her brother and (maiden) Aunt Elizabeth, who kept house for Uncle William and their orphaned kin.
