Hi Joey. Wonderful to hear from you, a close, yet til now, unknown relative. I spent summers in MS with many of my 1st cousins, who joined us from Hattiesburg, Jackson, Magee, Philadelphia, Gulfport, etc.

Yes, it makes sense he'd be a part of that temporary emergency group. He enlisted and his age was right on the borderline of conscripts. James was a member of his household in a war era census. I thought he was a younger brother, who came to live in Alfred's household, but I suppose it's more likely he was his son. James was killed in the war, I've been told, and Robert too, whom I thought was James' brother. I don't know if either had any children. I'm a great great granddaughter of Samuel. Do you know anything more about Alfred's sons or about the military records of James and Samuel? Thanks, Roz
