In Response To: Colonel William Harry Bishop ()

Hello,

A photo of Bishop would be a great find. I have read the linked page of notes regarding Bishop before and just wanted to give everyone ample warning that the section about Bishop dying at 9:30 p.m. near Carnton and that he is not buried at the McGavock Cemetery is simply not true. The source for that is Brian Allison and he is 100% wrong - as Brian often tends to be. Bishop died on the western side of the battlefield, much closer to the Carter House, and probably fell much closer to 8 p.m. as the nighttime attack he was involved in commenced no later than 7 p.m. Tim Burgess is absolutely correct that Bishop is buried in the McGavock Cemetery.
