Yes, I found several messages about the subject. One Confederate officer asked Pemberton if he were going to provide information on how NOT to accept the parole by the Union army to the Vicksburg troops. Pemberton wrote basically- he would not provide or even mention that information to his men. The first figures I saw said an estimated 1500 men were not going to take parole, but the final Union tally had only about 900.
