So are you saying that it might be possible to pull up a record on the service of Ross who was the servant of
Lt. Herron who served with the 7th Tenn. Cav. under Nathan Bedford Forrest? Herron was according to
oral history in charge of one of the supply trains for Forrest so it makes sense that Ross was there too.
Herron later named one of his sons after Ross. If that had not happened, I doubt anyone would have known that
Ross ever existed.
I have discussed this in the past but never even gave it a thought that it might be possible to find a service record.
Where would I write?
