I agree that it is an interesting topic, and I seem drawn to the lesser publicized chapters of the war. The Bearss book is a good one to keep track of the order of battle for that campaign.

I'm intrigued by the efforts of the CSA to assemble a relief force for Vicksburg, and the resulting controversy over who was to blame for its loss.

The battle at Raymond is also an interesting but little publicized event.

I go through Jackson quite often on my way to see kids in Hattiesburg, but have never stopped to see the "sights." I figured Fortification Street had long since lost any traces of the battle.
