John R. Cason's book, 17th Mississippi

The Library of Virginia in Richmond has an autograph book of fellow prisoners that was compiled by John R. Cason, a Lieutenant in Company I, 17th Mississippi, who had been captured at Gettysburg on 2 July 1863. Among the Mississippi prisoners held at Johnson's Island, Ohio whose names appear in the book are N. [Newton] L. Wood, 2nd Lieutenant, Company F, 11th Mississippi, address Cooksville, Noxubee Co., MS and William Peel, Company C, 11th Mississippi, Egypt Station (illegible) R. R. Separately, Cason also lists officers that were sent from Hilton Head to Beaufort, SC [in 1864?] which includes the name of A. [probably Absalom H.] Farrar, 1st Lieutenant, 13th Mississippi. Farrar is described as having been wounded in his left foot at Gettysburg.
