Re: POWs at Citronelle
Mr. Upton.
The place at Kushla is know as The Magee Farm. This the site where Gen. Taylor and Gen. Canbry meet to discuss the tems of surrender. acunts of this meeting can be found in Gen.Taylor's book Destruction and Recostruction. Also it is in civil war Narrative by Shelby Foot,Red River to Appoxmattox,Chapter 8 pages 998and 999.For as POws at Citronelle, I am unware of this. From what little I know the formal surrender took place at Cironelle,Al May 4,1865.I agree that the Confederate troops wre scattered.I would like some more infromantion of the Union Cavalry captureing the train. This all tries in to my reseach on Gen. Davidson's Expediton against the Mobile and Ohio Railroad which took place 6 months before this event. Thanks, Ed
