Civil War oldier, John L. McRae, was in the 39th Alabama Infantry and was with Captain Joseph C. Clayton at Murfreesboro when he was wounded. Does anyone know about this soldier and if he wrote reports about Captain Joseph C. Clayton and how he was removed from the field of battle? Captain Joseph C. Clayton died a few days later. Were there any reports written about Clayton? Thanks.
