Scanning "The Official Military Atlas of the Civil War", I cam upon a topo map of eastern Mississippi showing Macon, Ms. South east of the town it shows that there was a fort of some kind called "Ft. Terror" located on the Noxubee River. Checking a 7 1/2 min. topo map shows that this area would have be ideal for some battery to be located protecting Macon from a up river assault. I honestly doubt that if this fort existed, that it was ever fortifide like the fort at Grand Gulf, but chances are that some work was done, like some eartwork or something. My question is has anybody hear of this fort?
