Since my Grt-gf, Pvt. Archibald Campbell VANCE, 22nd MS Inf. Co. K, was in Battle of Shiloh, and all the records of Adjutant General say, "death not reported" I'll report that his widow, Minerva Vance, filed for his back pay saying he died about May 6th after Shiloh. His older brother wrote a letter, 1874, to his son, on family genealogy, saying "you know Arch died at Shiloh." I would say he was a casualty..I now think he died of wounds from Shiloh and is probably not counted. His bro-in-law, Anderson Sinclair, was in same 22nd unit and was shot in head at Shiloh (per muster sheet) was discharged April 12th, but lived to next year and re-enlisted in MS 8th Cav., Co. A, and made it to the end of the war. (I'm getting him a VA stone now that I've located his grave in Arkansas.)
