The photo of William Wirt Adams in Warner is from the Museum of the Confederacy, although there may be copies of it in other collections. The other image of him is from the Alabama Department of Archives and History and can be seen as a thumbnail at their Web site. Until they appeared in William C. Davis' "The Confederate General" (6 vols.) in the early 90s, a number of their photos of Confederate generals had never appeared in print before. I have seen his image misidentified as Daniel. The two images mentioned above are definitely William Wirt. Daniel lost his right eye as a result of a wound at Shiloh. Since he did not become a brigadier until June 1862, he could not be the person in the images identified correctly as William Wirt.
