Mike,

One last thing, if you do this kind of research regularly, for the commanders of Confederate regiments/battalions, you might want to consider Bruce Allardice's new book, "Confederate Colonels; A Biographical Register". Here is the info for P. F. Liddell from his book.

Liddell, Philip Franklin.

Born April 25, 1824, GA. Parents moved to MS in the 1830s. Resided in Choctaw Co., MS. State representative 1854–55. Officer in Mexican War. Carroll Co. lawyer in 1860. Unmd. Capt. Co. K, 11th MS, Feb. 26, 1861. Appointed AAG, Army of MS, March 12, 1861. Lt. col., May 4, 1861. Col., April 21, 1862. MWIA Antietam, Sept. 16, 1862, in skirmishing the day before the main battle. Died Sept. 25, 1862, at the home of Pastor Andrews, in Shepherdstown, VA. Buried Evergreen Cemetery, Carrolton, MS. Gen. Longstreet considered Liddell β€œan officer of great merit, modesty, and promise.”

You or others can order this book from the link at the top-left of this page or I have four (4) or five (5) copies, signed by the author. Sorry for the sales pitch, but it is an outstanding book and Bruce is a real supporter of these message boards.
