Here is some interesting information on the regiment's movements.

11th Mississippi Infantry

Company C, Record of Events

June 2-3, 1862— [Engaged] and at Atlee's Station. It then took its
position in line at Gaines' Farm.

June 13.— Marched to White Oak Swamp on the south side of
the Chickahominy

June 18.— Crossed to the south side of the James.

June 21-30.— It recrossed to the north side of the James and took
position near New Market Heights, at which place it remained
until June 30.

Company F, Record of Events

May 23-June 1.— Moving then by right flank, crossed North
Anna River, taking up position near Hanover Junction. Leaving
there we moved to Atlee's Station on Virginia Central Railroad.
Left this position on June 1.

June 2.— Participated in flank movement near Bethesda Church.

June 3.— Under heavy fire during the day, then moved by right
flank to Gaines' Farm. From there to White Oak Swamp.

June 18-22.— Moved to south side of James River, taking posi-
tion on General [George Edward] Pickett's line near Bermuda
Hundred, which place we left on June 22. Marched all night,
recrossing the James River at Drewry's Bluff and taking position
near Chaffin's Farm.

Company H, Record of Events

May 28-June 1.— Marched to Atlee's Station. In line of battle on
May 29, 30, 31 and June 1.

June 2-3.— Were in action.

June 4-10.— Marched to Cold Harbor. Remained there in line of
battle until June 10.

Regimental Casualty Analysis

05/30/62 Seven Pines, VA Killed 0 Wounded 17 POW 1 Missing 0

05/31/62 Seven Pines, VA 1 15 3 1

There are no official reports covering the action of the regiment at Seven Pines, May 31 and June 1. They supported the Third Alabama in an attack on the Fifty-second New York June 1, and finally took the front line and suffered a heavy loss, which does not appear in the reports. Company E had 2 killed and 8 wounded, 2 of whom were captured. Company K had 3 killed, 11 wounded.

May of 1862 found the 11th Mississippi marching half of it's one thousand men into battle at Seven Pines, near Richmond, Virginia. It is stated that twenty-four percent of the soldiers were lost in this engagement. General Joseph E. Johnston, who had led this attack against General George McClellan's Federal army was wounded, and Robert E. Lee was named as successor.
