Capt. J. S. Tatum, 36th MS Inf.

I'm looking for any personal and military information on J.S. Tatum...

Dunbar Rowland's History on 36th MS Reg, shows a "Capt. J. S. Tatum" as a casualty.

Col. W.W. Witherspoon brigaded with 37th, 38th and 43rd, and 3rd Louisiana, when later Hebert commanded the division. According to record, Hebert's Brigade was stationed from Haynes' Bluff to the Mississippi River, incl Snyder's Bluff, "whence they marched the night of May 17-18 to Vicksburg and were immediately sent to the line of intrenchments with instructions to occupy the line..."

Since Dunbar's history lists a "Capt. J.S. Tatum" as one of 28 killed (July 1st 1863?) from the 36th MS Reg. and I found a "Capt. J.S. Tatum, buried in Cedar Hill Cem. Vicksburg, MS, (Soldiers Rest with no dates or info), I'm persuaded to believe this may be one and the same soldier. Can anyone help me verify it is, or isn't? Thanks in advance for any input.
Winnie
