An Interesting Tale

Can anyone provide any amplifying information on this incident?

Private W. J. Lee, Company A, 33rd Mississippi Infantry, arrested as a deserter by Captain Robert L. Adams, Holmes County Infantry Battalion, n.d., appears on a list of sick C. S. A., who were put off on the banks of the Mississippi River, from the Steamer Minnehaha, at Greenville, Mississippi, December 31, 1862, entirely destitute of rations, bedding, etc. List dated January 2, 1863
