William G. Gatewood Civil War Service

Does anyone have access to Grady Howell's books. I am trying to find Civil War Service for William G. Gatewood born Oct. 7, 1836 and died Feb. 27, 1862 with burial in Gatewood Cemetery west of Holly Springs in Marshall Co, Ms. I had thought the William A. Gatewood who served in the 28th Regiment, Mississippi Cavaly was he, but after contacting the State Archives I have found he lived much later and drew a Civil War Pension.

William G. Gatewood had three brothers who served, two of whom are also buried in this cemetery, Patrick Henry Gatewood served in the 34th Regiment of Mississippi Infantry and fell at the Battle of Lookout Mtn, Thomas J. Gatewood served in the 17th Regiment of Mississippi Infantry and died November 5, 1862, and Lafayette Gatewood who also served in the 17th after earlier service in Company C of the 3rd Regiment of Mississippi Infantry (Army of 10,000). I wonder if William G. also served in this Regiment without documentation. Info on the regiment says many suffered exposure and died of camp disease, pneumonia, and measels after service in Kentucky in late December of 1861 and that the men were discharged at the end of their enlistment which coincides with the death of William G. in February of 1862.

Any help or guidance appreciated.
