Thanks for your reply, Raymond. There was a Samuel and a Thomas Settle in Co. D of the 32nd infantry, the company my G-grandfather, G-uncle, and GG-uncle served in (Oakes, Turner, and Norman). I've been able to find out a lot about the regiment in general, but am really interested now in what life was like for the men in the company. Have you been able to find any letters by your ancestors or other info. relative to the time they were in the war? Anything you've published or would be willing to make available? Whatever you might share would be much appreciated.
