This man belonged to the "Desoto Grays", which became Co. "D", Johnston's 1st Mississippi Regt. He was not captured at Fort Donelson TN, being wounded and sent to Clarksville TN before the surrender. Scott was part of the surrender at Port Hudson LA, July 8, 1863. He eventually deserted on Jan. 5, 1865, and took the oath of allegiance to the United States at Memphis TN, Jan. 28, 1865.
