Banes, Baines, Baynes,Barnes/37th MS

I am trying to find out if Mathew R.Baynes (Banes) was in the 37th Mississippi. I have his pension papers in which he says he was. He originally was in the 1st Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. He was captured at Island 10 and was in prison at Camp Douglas at Chicago. He was exchanged Sept 20, 1862 at Vicksburg (sick). This is in his service record. The state dept has picked up an M R Barnes of the 54th Alabama Infantry and put the two jackets together. The 1st A,T,and M became the 54th Alabama in October of 1862.
Mathew says he transferred to the 37th Mississippi, was wounded at Resaca and was in prison in Indiana at the end of the war. Can anyone help me place him. He was granted his pension and lived well into his 80's. I have been able to identify one person A.L. McEachern who signed his pension papers in 1916 as having belonged to te 37th.
