David B. Berry, age 22, Private, Captain J. R. Dickins' Company (Sardis Blues). Mississippi Vols.,** enrolled February, 1861 at Sardis, Miss., mustered into service April 20, 1861 at Sardis, Miss. by Capt. J. R. Dickens, joined for duty and enrolled May 8, 1861 at Corinth, Miss. by Capt. Crump for 12 months, received a slight wound, a casualty in Posey's Brigade in the battles around Fredericksburg (Chancellorsville) Va. May 4, 1863, admitted May 9, 1863 to CSA General Hospital, Camp Winder, Richmond, Virginia, Contusis, returned to duty May 22, 1863, wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness, March 6, 1864, admitted May 9th, 1863 to the Mississippi Soldiers' Hospital, Richmond, gunshot wound, received at Howard's Grove General Hospital, Richmond, May 10,1864, gunshot wound right forearm, transferred May 22, arriving at CSA General Hospital, Danville, Va. May 23, furloughed May 26, 1864 to Mississippi, furloughed out August 13, 1864, POW paroled at Memphis, Tenn. last week of May, 1865

** This company was successively designed as Captain Dickins' Company, Mississippi Volunteers, and as Captain Dickins' Company, Captain Crumps' Company, (Old) Company E, and (New) Company F, 12th Regiment Mississippi Infantry.
