William M. Johnson

Well, I'm asking again if anybody knows anything about a William M. Johnson. He was the youngest brother of my great grandfather. He was born in 1841 in Jefferson County, Alabama. His father was Randolph Johnson and his mother was Elizabeth (Ashby) Johnson. They moved to Pontotoc Co., MS between by 1850 as they appear on the 1850 Pontotoc Co. census. William M. johnson (and I have no idea what the "M." stood for) was still living at home in 1860, as I found him with his mother and older brother, Jonathan H. Johnson, and they were all living with his sister, Susan and her husband, Pleasant G. McCraw. After 1860, I'm not sure about this, but I'm wondering if he went back to Alabama, and joined up - like his brother, Benjamin Gunnels Johnson, did in the 18th Alabama Infantry Div. If he did and anybody has a record of that, I'm wondering what happened to him - whether he died in the War, or did he go back to Mississippi, or what? Thanks for any help you can give me. Also, if anybody knows if William married while in Alabama, that would be a big help, too.
