1863 diary of Gen. Meade's Rebel sister

First I want you to know that we, my co-author, Rebecca Drake of Raymond, and I are not trying to sell books for profit - all proceeds go to battlefield preservation. All of her books, some with co-author Margie Bearss, are non-profit and all monies go to saving Civil War history. The diary is annotated and contain numerous pictures.

Ingrahams lived near Willow Springs in Claiborne County. Their Ashwood Plantation was the site of skirmishes and raids on four different occasions during the war. Elizabeth's diary reflects only Grant's devastating assault in 1863. She was a very perceptive and mature diarist. Ironically Elizabeth's brother was Union General George Meade, victor at Gettysburg as Vicksburg fell in July 1863.

Leaves: The Diary of Elizabeth Meade Ingraham, General George Meade's Rebel Sister, is on sale at the Battle of Champion Hill website, right hand column. The cover is a picture of the ruins of Windsor. http://battleofchampionhill.org/
