I am looking to learn more about Frederick Benteen's men (small detached unit of tenth mo. cav) who were left behind at Vicksburg under command of Major Hynes during the months of May, June, and July of 1864. Are you knowledgeable of this unit or Thomas Hynes? I see that you have written a very detailed and well produced book, and I wondered if any of your research is post 1863 battle? Do have suggestions of any manuscripts, or written details from soldiers who may reference Vicksburg in the summer of 64, or 10th Mo at Vicksburg during summer of 1864?
