Re: MS soldiers who died in England

John Scott was living in Tocoppola P.O., Pontotoc County, MS in 1860. I assume he still lived there in 1861. His wife, Virginia, was living in nearby Calhoun County, MS in 1869 when she sold thier land. I believe my John Scott might have been in Company F, 42nd MS Inf because there were several of his kinfolk in that company: Eli Clements, a nephew, and several Wait men related to his wife. John Scott might also have been the one in Co. E 10th MS Cav. The truth is, I do not know for sure if he was Union or confederate. I expect he must have been Confederate because of where he lived. He moved there from Tennessee about 1853. His widow and children are on a list of "Indigent and Disabled Soldiers and Dependents for Pontotoc County" that was made on May 8, 1867 and is in the Mississippi Dept of Archives and History. There were no family stories about him passed down in the family. There was not even mention that he was in the Civil War. I assume that is because he died so long ago and people went on with their lives. But I would like to find more information about him if I can.
