Re: Yerger's Co. Mississippi State Troops

Hal, my gggrandfather, Benjamin F. Turner and his father Alexander K. Turner both served in Yerger's Company. This unit seems to be made up of men who were too old or too young for regular service. Benjamin was 16 when he enlisted in April, 1864. Alexander was in the Copiah Horse Guards previously, but his enlistment was up and he joined Yerger's Company with his son. The Unit served in Adam's Brigade, Wood's Regiment according to Benjamin's Pension Application. Their Company was discharged in Jackson after "Lee's Surrender". The majority of their service was in the area between the Big Black and Canton.
