Re: The Terrible Storms - A Personal Note

We (the town of Myrtle) were very lucky. Numerous 50+ year old oak trees uprooted, and though several of them fell on houses with varying damage, no one was injured. Lots of roof/shingle damage from the wind. Personally, I had a limb fall in my driveway but didn't hit anything, and three shingles blew off the roof. As always, I thank the Lord for the blessings he bestows upon me daily...though many people's lives will be permanently affected by the storms, I will spend only a couple of hours for repair and cleanup.

There was some significant damage in other parts of Union county, I work with a guy whose house was completely destroyed. But again, most of the damage was roof damage and falling trees. At the latest report, which was less than an hour ago, there have been no deaths reported in Union county.

I suppose the single worst damage in the state was at Smithville in Monroe county. Those people need all of our prayers. As do the victims in Alabama, where the damage was incredible.

Thank you Jim for thinking about the victims here.
