I posted this on the Alabama board and they recommended that I also post it here. I'd welcome thoughts on the fate of Melton Greenberry Booker. He was at Vicksburg, in the 42nd Alabama, Co, H. On Sept 18 he is listed as "slightly wounded". Vicksburg ended July 4th. There are no parole records, POW records, Deceased records, Burial records, etc. He never returned home. I wonder what became of him. Did he die of wounds received at Vicksburg? Where would he be buried? Any ideas? Thanks.
