There is no reason to assume that there were any other units that McRae was to temporarily take charge of other than the brigade his regiment was part of. This was a very typical occurrence, then and today for that matter, someone always has to be in charge and McRae, being the senior brigade officer present, was being temporarily put in charge. I assume that Hebert was traveling with the last of his brigade and would be arriving soon.
