Re: Letter 23rd SC Greenville AL train wreck

Failed to include the author's information. He was Major William Gildersleeve Vardell. He was Asst. Quartermaster in the 23rd SC Volunteers of Brig. General "Shanks" Evans Brigade.

There are several more letters to his wife "Jennie" (Jane Dickson Bell Vardell) - at least the ones that survived - cover from Aug. 1862 to Aug. 1863. Located at the SC Historical Society.
